Privacy policy

Houses asks for personal details to draw your chart. This page explains what we collect, why, who we share it with and how to delete it.

Houses is run by Emma Abbasi, a sole trader, at Suite G04, 1 Quality Court, Chancery Lane, London WC2A 1HR (“we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the information described here. Questions go to hello@housesastrology.com.

What we collect

  • Your birth details: date, time and place of birth, used to calculate your chart and houses.
  • Account details: your name and your email address or Apple ID.
  • People in your orbit: the name of anyone you add and the chart the app calculates for them. We don't keep their birth date, time or place. Only add someone if you're comfortable with that.
  • Purchases: whether you have a subscription and its status. Payment is handled by Apple or Google; we never see your card details.
  • Questions you ask: if you use Ask (Premium), the text of your question.
  • Notification settings: a code from your phone so we can send notifications you have allowed.
  • Usage and device data: which screens you use, app version, device type and an advertising identifier if you allow tracking.

Why we use it

  • To calculate and show your chart, transits and orbit. This is the service you asked for.
  • To manage your subscription.
  • To understand how the app is used and fix problems.
  • To measure whether our adverts work, only with your permission.

We rely on performing our contract with you, our legitimate interests in running and improving the app, and your consent for advertising measurement. You can withdraw consent at any time in your device settings.

Who we share it with

We never sell your data. We share it only with the services that help us run Houses:

  • Apple and Google: app distribution, payments and notifications.
  • RevenueCat: managing subscriptions.
  • Anthropic: answering your questions in Ask. We send your question and your calculated chart, and the name and chart of a person in your orbit if you ask about them. We don't send your name or birth details.
  • Meta: measuring adverts, only if you allow tracking.
  • Supabase: storing your account and chart.
  • Vercel: hosting this website.

Some of these providers store data outside the UK. Where they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the UK International Data Transfer Agreement or adequacy regulations.

This website

The same rules apply when you use housesastrology.com. In particular:

  • Birth chart calculator: the date, time and place you enter are used to work out your rising sign and the house your Sun is in. We don't store them. The place is sent to Open-Meteo, a free lookup service, to find its coordinates.
  • Hosting and fonts: the site is hosted by Vercel, which receives your IP address when you visit. Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address. We don't use advertising or analytics cookies on this site.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while you have an account. When you delete your account, we delete your personal data straight away, except anything we must keep by law.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct, export or delete your data, and object to or restrict how we use it. Email hello@housesastrology.com and we'll reply within one month.

To delete your account yourself, go to Settings in the app.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Children

Houses is not intended for anyone under 16. We don't knowingly collect data from children.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top and let you know in the app if the change is significant.
