Empty houses aren't empty

Follow the ruling planet

2 min read

Everyone has them

Most people have four or five houses with no planets in them. There are twelve houses and only ten planets, so it is guaranteed. An empty house never means that part of life is missing.

How to read one

First, find the sign the house begins in. Second, find that sign's ruling planet. Third, see which house that ruler sits in. That is where the story of the empty house plays out.

A worked example

Say your 7th house is empty and begins in Libra. Libra is ruled by Venus. If your Venus sits in your 8th, your relationships are told through intimacy and trust.

Visitors still come

Planets pass through empty houses all the time. An empty house is not a quiet one for ever: a passing planet can light it up for weeks, months or years.

A quick cheat sheet

Aries is ruled by Mars, Taurus by Venus, Gemini by Mercury, Cancer by the Moon, Leo by the Sun, Virgo by Mercury. Libra is Venus, Scorpio is Pluto, Sagittarius is Jupiter, Capricorn is Saturn, Aquarius is Uranus and Pisces is Neptune.

Now try it on your own chart.
